Patrick Daubard

ABOUT

“Inspired by Western and Eastern human sciences,
Patrick Daubard has translated this wisdom into
simple words and tools adapted to Western culture.”

Anne Lorenço-Loviton (CNRS Researcher)

A specialist in Toumo (Western) Yoga, Patrick Daubard ran courses in the Italian Alps for over a decade, in close collaboration with Maurice Daubard, and now runs the Maurice Daubard Institute (IMD), which he co-founded.

He has dedicated his life to education. His inspiration comes from his own life experiences, both in extreme sports and travel, and in his varied professional career, which is always rich in human contact. With degrees in the humanities (Université Paris VIII), health (Ministère de la Santé), yoga, toumo, sport and music, Patrick Daubard draws on a wide range of cultural references to bring his educational projects to fruition.

He has lived in Brazil for several decades now. A country he considers to be the India of the West “so concerned and aware are its inhabitants of the spirituality and mysticism they manifest in their daily lives with the utmost simplicity and spontaneity.”

Man has taught him his riches through sharing and observation.

"When man is totally destitute, all he has left to share are the riches of his heart". (Patrick Daubard)

It is in the obscure depths of psychiatric institutions (within the care team), under the tropical secrets of the Central American forests (close to the Mayas), deep in the remote suburbs and multicoloured favelas of the city of Rio, but also in the effort and concentration of practising top-level sport, in the discipline and lyrical beauty of art, that Patrick Daubard has perceived and felt the most intimate and noble human values, those values that the Tibetans speak so much about, those infinite and limitless qualities that are inherent in human beings and that they will have to discover for themselves on the path to self-knowledge, self-knowledge that inevitably leads to openness to others.

Throughout his childhood and youth, Patrick accompanied his father (Maurice Daubard), not only in his yogic and sporting activities (extreme sports and Toumo, among others!) but also in his educational activities, so he was constantly in contact with top-level sportsmen and women as well as people suffering from all sorts of pathologies;

As a teenager, he regularly attended the international yoga congress organised annually by the European Union (in Zinal, Switzerland), where he was taught by some of the most respected yogis of the day (both Eastern and Western);

In 1972, at the age of 13, Patrick Daubard obtained his first certificate of participation in an international yoga seminar, from the Yoga Intégral Institute founded and directed by André Van Lysebeth. For several decades, he has led conferences and courses, both in Europe and in Brazil. He was a guest speaker in 2013 and led Toumo workshops in 2024 at the European Yoga Union’s Zinal congress.
