“When we talk about the universe, the cosmos, we have no other recourse than to refer first and foremost to the laws of physics and astrophysics. And this physics reminds us at every moment that we are its children and that we must therefore, at the very least, respect it if we are not to be at odds with the balance that is proper to us and which we cannot ignore.

 

But how do we translate the laws of physics into everyday life? How can we avoid coming into conflict with these laws, and therefore with our true nature?

 

To give a simple, objective example, if we don’t stand up straight, we’re likely to experience pain in our spine.

 

But even if we confine ourselves to the bodily realm, we are already going beyond mere mechanical repercussions. According to a survey conducted by the Universities of Southern California and Toronto,* standing up straight conveys a positive, elegant image and makes us feel strong psychologically and emotionally, and is therefore, by extension, associated with emotional, social and economic success.
